SOD Installation
New sod fails more often from poor soil prep and wrong variety selection than from anything that happens after installation — getting these decisions right is the whole job.

Variety Selection Is Where Most Decisions Go Wrong.
Tall fescue, bermuda, St. Augustine, zoysia — each performs very differently in North County San Diego's climate and in different microclimates within a single yard. A full-sun front lawn and a shaded backyard under mature trees may need entirely different turf varieties to perform well. AJ Criss evaluates each zone individually and recommends the variety with the best match to the actual growing conditions, not just the most popular option at the sod farm that week.
A Lawn That Establishes Fast and Stays Healthy Long-Term.
Sod installation is appealing because it delivers immediate results — a full, green lawn in a single day rather than waiting months for seed germination and establishment. But immediate results and lasting results aren't the same thing. The turf variety you choose has to match your yard's specific mix of sun, shade, and irrigation; the soil prep has to correct compaction and drainage before the sod goes down; and the grading has to be right so the lawn drains evenly rather than collecting in low spots. AJ Criss handles all of it as a complete installation — not just the laying of rolls.
